Barabati Stadium to Host India vs Sri Lanka T20I on Dec 24 The Eastern Times

Cuttack: Good news for cricket lovers in Odisha. International cricket is coming back to Barabati Stadium this December.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has confirmed that India will take on Sri Lanka in the 2nd T20I on December 24, 2026. The match will begin at 7:00 PM IST, making it an ideal evening game for fans.

India will host the Sri Lanka national cricket team for a six-match series consisting of three ODIs and three T20Is. The matches will be played in New Delhi, Bengaluru, Ahmedabad, Rajkot, Cuttack, and Pune, with the Cuttack game being the second T20I of the series.

This is not just another match for fans in Odisha. International cricket is returning to Cuttack once again, and the Christmas Eve timing adds to the festive atmosphere. Barabati Stadium has always been known for its energetic crowd and strong support for Team India.

There is also a sense of nostalgia attached to this fixture. The last time India played Sri Lanka at Barabati was in 2017, when India secured a convincing 93-run victory. More recently, in December 2025, India defeated South Africa at the same venue by 101 runs, showing their strong record here.

The Odisha Cricket Association is expected to begin preparations soon to ensure the stadium is ready for the big match. A full house is expected, with fans eagerly waiting to fill the stands and cheer for India.
