New Delhi: Eternal Ltd, the parent company of Zomato, has announced a major change in its leadership. Founder Deepinder Goyal has stepped down from his role as Group CEO after leading the company for 18 years. Blinkit CEO Albinder Dhindsa has been appointed as the new Group CEO. However, Goyal will continue to be associated with the company as its Vice Chairman. Goyal shared the update through a post on his X (formerly Twitter) account.

In a message to shareholders, Goyal said he wants to work on new and high-risk ideas that cannot be explored while managing a public company. He explained that by moving away from daily operations, he will be able to look for new opportunities, while the company can focus better on its main businesses.
With this change, Albinder Dhindsa will now handle all major operational responsibilities. As Group CEO, he will manage day-to-day activities and take key business decisions. Goyal said Dhindsa played an important role in making Blinkit profitable after it was acquired and expressed strong confidence in his leadership.

Goyal also announced that he has returned all his unvested ESOPs to the company’s ESOP pool. This move will benefit future leaders of the company and will not create any extra burden for shareholders. He added that he will continue to guide the company’s long-term strategy, work culture, and governance.
Deepinder Goyal is the co-founder of Zomato and has played a key role in building it into one of India’s largest food delivery and restaurant discovery platforms.
