Elon Musk Triumphs: Putin Hails SpaceX Founder as a Visionary Genius

On Thursday, Russian President Vladimir Putin spoke warmly about Elon Musk, comparing him to Sergei Korolev, a brilliant Soviet engineer who helped make the Soviet Union a space exploration leader in the 1950s and 1960s. According to Russia’s state news agency TASS, Putin shared these thoughts during a talk with students about Russia’s space program.

Putin described Musk as someone totally passionate about Mars, saying, “There’s this guy in the U.S. who’s just wild about Mars.” He likened Musk’s drive to Korolev’s, who played a key role in sending Yuri Gagarin into space in 1961, marking the world’s first human spaceflight. Putin noted, “People like this don’t come around often. They’re so fired up with an idea that, even if it sounds far-fetched now, they often make it happen.”

This isn’t the first time Putin has praised Musk, the founder of SpaceX, calling him “an incredible person” in the past. Musk, who advises U.S. President Donald Trump, has recently been outspoken against Ukraine, which has been defending itself against Russia’s invasion since 2022.
