Pahalgam Terror Attack in Jammu & Kashmir
The Pahalgam terror attack occurred on April 22, 2025, when four heavily armed terrorists opened fire on a group of tourists in Baisaran Valley, near Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir. Prime Minister Narendra Modi strongly criticized a terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, that targeted tourists. He expressed sadness for the families who lost loved ones, wished for the quick recovery of the injured, and promised that the attackers would be punished. In a post on X, he said, “I strongly condemn the terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. Condolences to those who have lost their loved ones. I pray for the speedy recovery of the injured. All possible assistance is being provided to those affected.”

He added, “Those behind this heinous act will be brought to justice… they will not be spared! Their evil agenda will never succeed. Our resolve to fight terrorism is unshakable and will only grow stronger.”
The attack happened earlier that day in Anantnag district. Union Home Minister Amit Shah also condemned it, saying the attackers would face severe punishment. He briefed the Prime Minister, held a meeting with officials, and planned to visit Srinagar for a security review. “I’m hurt by the attack on tourists. The guilty will pay,” Shah posted on X.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh called the attack cowardly and expressed sorrow. “I’m sad about the Pahalgam attack. It’s shameful to target innocent people. My prayers are with the victims,” he said.
Leaders from all parties condemned the attack, saying it harmed innocent people and damaged peace and tourism in the area.
