pahalgam terror attack, tourists evacuation

Pahalgam Terror attack update:

Following the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, Union Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu is actively overseeing efforts to support affected tourists and victims, according to a Wednesday statement from the Ministry of Civil Aviation.

To aid evacuation, four special flights have been scheduled from Srinagar—two to Delhi and two to Mumbai—with additional flights on standby for further needs.

Naidu is working closely with Union Home Minister Amit Shah and other authorities to coordinate relief efforts on the ground.

In an emergency meeting with airline operators, Naidu issued a strict advisory against surge pricing, instructing airlines to maintain standard fares to avoid burdening passengers during this crisis.

Naidu also directed airlines to fully assist in transporting deceased victims to their home states with dignity and efficiency.

“The Ministry of Civil Aviation is on high alert and dedicated to providing all possible support to those impacted by this tragic incident,” the statement said.

The Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has urged airlines to increase flight operations to and from Srinagar due to the ongoing tensions.

IndiGo announced on Wednesday that it is waiving rescheduling and cancellation fees for flights until April 30 for bookings made on or before April 22. The airline also confirmed two special flights for today.
