Pahalgam terror attack Update
On Wednesday, security agencies shared sketches of three suspected terrorists—Asif Fuji, Suleman Shah, and Abu Talha—linked to a deadly attack on tourists in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam the previous day. They are believed to be members of The Resistance Front (TRF), a group tied to the banned terror organization Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT).
Officials said five to six terrorists, dressed in camouflage uniforms, attacked tourists at Baisaran meadow, a popular spot about six kilometers from Pahalgam town. The attackers likely entered through the nearby dense pine forests.
Early investigations and survivor accounts indicate the terrorists used advanced weapons and communication devices, suggesting outside support. A security source told Reuters that the attackers wore traditional long shirts and loose trousers, with one using a bodycam.
A National Investigation Agency (NIA) team, led by a senior officer, visited the attack site on Wednesday to support the Jammu and Kashmir Police. The NIA will assist with forensic analysis, evidence collection, and identifying those responsible for what is considered one of the deadliest civilian attacks in the region in recent years.
