OCS Exam Cheating Case: Investigators Suspect Involvement of a Large Organized Racket

The OPSC examination cheating case has taken a serious turn, with investigators suspecting the involvement of an organized racket linked to a  Private  college in sector -1 , CDA, Cuttack, which was one of the centre for OCS -2025 prelims Examination. Police allege that a candidate used a mobile phone and wireless earbuds to cheat, while several individuals outside the examination centre provided assistance.

Allegations Under Investigation

• Arrested accused Alexraj Pani is suspected to be the mastermind behind the racket.
• He allegedly maintained close ties with that college's examination controller and admission officials.
• Alex reportedly facilitated admissions from a coaching centre in the Badambadi Area to that private Engineering College.
• He is alleged to have earned substantial commissions from these admissions.
• Police suspect he used his connections to assist OPSC candidate Abhishek Raut in cheating during the examination.
• He allegedly promised employment opportunities to the candidate.

Findings and Questions Raised

• Investigators are examining how the candidate entered the examination hall with a mobile phone and wireless earbuds.
• Questions have been raised about whether mandatory security checks, including metal detector screening, were properly conducted.
• The role of examination invigilators is also under scrutiny, as the alleged cheating went undetected during the examination.
• Police are investigating whether examination SOPs were adequately followed at the centre.

Government Response

• The Odisha Government has sought a report from the Cuttack District Collector.
• OPSC Secretary has reportedly been transferred following the incident.
• District Collector Dattatraya Bhausaheb Shinde is preparing a detailed report on the matter.

Arrests

Police have arrested:

• Abhishek Raut (candidate)
• Alexraj Pani
• Soumyaranjan Sahu
• Rupesh Jha

All four accused are currently lodged in Choudwar Jail while the investigation continues.
