Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has launched an economic corridor connecting Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Puri and Paradeep. The project, called BCPPER, is expected to become a key growth driver under Odisha Vision 2047.
Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi inaugurated several proposed projects under this corridor at Lok Seva Bhavan.
The initiative aims to boost tourism, culture, and heritage-based economic activities in the region. It will also help Odisha develop into a major port-led industrial and logistics hub in eastern India.
The corridor covers four districts—Puri, Khordha, Cuttack and Jagatsinghpur—spread across 11,892 square kilometres. Development in the region will focus on eco-friendly, innovation-driven, and culture-sensitive infrastructure.

Each city will play a unique role:
Puri for its cultural and religious importance
Paradeep as a port and industrial city
Bhubaneswar as an IT and education hub
Cuttack as a heritage city
The government has planned 80 projects and 30 policy initiatives under this corridor. At present, these four districts contribute 19 percent to Odisha’s GDP, worth USD 22.38 billion. By 2047, the target is to increase this contribution 15 times, reaching USD 500 billion.

He added that Paradeep will emerge as a leading port city, while Bhubaneswar will grow at a pace similar to Hyderabad. The Chief Minister also highlighted that 20 percent of the state’s revenue comes from rural areas and noted the support provided by NITI Aayog in Odisha’s development journey.
