1. Punjab Terrorism Alert

2. Cabinet approves punishment for disrespect to Vande Mataram song

The Union Cabinet amended the National Honour Act to give Vande Mataram the same legal status as the National Anthem. Respecting the song is now mandatory; intentional insults or disruptions during its performance can lead to three years of imprisonment.
