1. Punjab & Haryana HC Fines Army Chief and Defence Secretary. Fines to be deducted from their Salary.

The Punjab & Haryana High Court fined Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh and Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi โ‚น2 lakh for failing to implement a court order regarding a retired Major's disability pension. The fine will be deducted from their salaries.

2. World Press Freedom Index 2026. India Ranks 157

The 2026 World Press Freedom Index by Reporters Without Borders ranks India 157th out of 180 nations. The report highlights ongoing concerns regarding journalist safety, restrictive national security laws, and the deteriorating legal environment for media freedom in the country.
