Medvedev Warns of World War III After Trump Criticizes Putin Over Ukraine War
Former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev has warned that there is a danger of World War III after former US President Donald Trump criticized Russian President Vladimir Putin. This happened as peace talks between Russia and Ukraine have stopped and fighting continues.
Trump’s Changing Opinion on Putin
Trump used to speak well of Putin, but now his words have changed. He is upset because Russia keeps attacking Ukraine, causing many deaths and a lot of damage.
On Sunday night, Trump wrote on social media, “I’ve always had a good relationship with Vladimir Putin, but now something is wrong. He has gone crazy!”
This came after Russia launched a large attack on Ukraine, using more than 360 drones and missiles on cities including Kyiv, the capital. At least 13 people died in these attacks. Trump said the US might add more sanctions on Russia to try to stop the attacks.
Russia Keeps Fighting
Russia is not stopping its attacks. Russian officials say Ukraine is trying to stop peace talks. They also say the recent attacks are in response to Ukrainian drones hitting Russian civilians.
This fighting makes it harder to find peace. Both sides blame each other and continue fighting.
Medvedev’s Warning
In reply to Trump’s words, Dmitry Medvedev warned of serious dangers. He said, “The only really bad thing I see is World War III. I hope Trump understands how serious this is.”
Medvedev’s warning shows how dangerous the situation has become. Many people around the world are worried that harsh words between leaders could make the conflict worse.
What the World Thinks
The war in Ukraine has lasted over a year and has involved many countries. The US and its allies support Ukraine by giving help and criticizing Russia. Russia says it is protecting itself.
Leaders everywhere want both sides to stop fighting and talk again. But with every attack and angry message, peace seems harder to reach.
The current US government says it will keep helping Ukraine and use sanctions against Russia. Russia says it will keep fighting until it reaches its goals.
