Keonjhar Gets ₹100 Crore Textile Park, ₹187 Crore Data Centre: 1,200 Jobs Likely

Keonjhar: In a major boost to industrial diversification and digital infrastructure, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi laid the foundation stone for a ₹100 crore Textile Park and a ₹187 crore Disaster Recovery and Data Centre at the Dharanidhar University campus.

1,200 Employment Opportunities

The upcoming Textile Park will:

  • Generate employment for around 1,200 youth

  • Include a garment manufacturing unit by Hindalco

  • Be developed on 7 acres of land

  • Produce 24 lakh garments annually

The Chief Minister said the textile sector has strong potential to create large-scale jobs, especially for women and young people.

Keonjhar to Become a Diversified Industrial Hub

The Chief Minister stated that Keonjhar will no longer be known only for mining and steel.

“Our vision is to build a Golden Keonjhar by promoting multi-sector industrial growth,” he said.

He also recalled that during last year’s O-Tex Textile Conclave in Bhubaneswar:

  • 33 MoUs worth ₹7,800 crore were signed

  • More than 53,000 employment opportunities are expected across the state

Apart from Keonjhar, dedicated textile and apparel parks are being developed in Bhadrak, Sambalpur, Balangir, Ganjam, Cuttack and Jagatsinghpur.

₹187 Crore Disaster Recovery and Data Centre

The Disaster Recovery and Data Centre, being developed through OCAC under the Electronics and IT Department, will:

  • Serve as a backup to the State Data Centre in Bhubaneswar

  • Ensure uninterrupted digital delivery of government services

  • Strengthen data security against natural disasters and cyber threats

The Chief Minister noted that the state government currently delivers more than 400 services online and emphasized the need for secure and stable digital infrastructure.

Keonjhar has been selected for the project as it falls under low earthquake-risk Zone II, making it suitable for critical digital infrastructure.

Focus on Balanced Regional Development

The Chief Minister also highlighted:

  • ₹312 crore allocated for temple development in the district

  • Projects worth ₹1,900 crore already launched during the Makar festival

He emphasized that district-level growth will drive Odisha’s overall prosperity and strengthen the state’s journey toward a developed India.
