Israel-Iran War
Israel announced on Thursday that it had targeted Iran’s only active nuclear power facility, located in the Gulf coastal city of Bushehr. The attack marks a major escalation in the ongoing air conflict between the two nations.
According to the Israeli military, strikes were also carried out on nuclear-related sites in Isfahan and Natanz. The operation is part of a broader campaign that Israel says is aimed at dismantling Iran’s nuclear infrastructure.
The Bushehr plant, Iran’s only functioning nuclear power station, operates on Russian-supplied fuel which is later returned to Russia to prevent misuse. Its location near several Arab Gulf countries and the involvement of Russian personnel make the strike particularly sensitive.
In a separate development, Iranian missiles hit an Israeli hospital overnight, adding further strain to the already volatile situation. Meanwhile, former U.S. President Donald Trump has yet to clarify whether the United States will support Israel with military action.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reaffirmed his commitment to continue the offensive until Iran’s nuclear capabilities are fully eliminated. He warned that Iran’s leaders would face severe consequences for threatening Israeli security.
Defence Minister Israel Katz stated that the military had been directed to intensify its strikes on Tehran’s strategic facilities, aiming to dismantle what he described as the “Ayatollah regime” and neutralize any future threats to Israel.
