New Delhi/Tehran, January 14, 2026:
The Government of India has issued a fresh advisory urging Indian nationals currently in Iran to leave the country at the earliest in view of the evolving security situation.
In a statement dated January 14, 2026, the advisory said Indian citizens, including students, pilgrims, businesspersons, and tourists, are advised to depart Iran using available means of transport, including commercial flights. The advisory follows an earlier notice issued on January 5, 2025, and takes into account recent developments in the region.

The government has reiterated that all Indian citizens and Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs) in Iran should exercise due caution and avoid areas witnessing protests or demonstrations. They have also been advised to remain in regular contact with the Indian Embassy in Tehran and closely monitor local media for updates.

The advisory further stated that Indian nationals should keep their travel and immigration documents, including passports and identification papers, readily accessible at all times. Those requiring assistance have been asked to immediately contact the Indian Embassy.

The government said it is closely monitoring the situation and will issue further updates as required.
Several countries, including the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, and Australia, have issued urgent advisories asking their citizens to leave Iran immediately amid a worsening security situation. Governments have cited rising regional tensions, protests, and the risk of further escalation, urging nationals to depart using available commercial transport and remain in contact with their respective embassies.
