New Delhi, March 31: Indian defense officials have denied allegations that Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) transferred sensitive military technology to Russia, dismissing claims made in a recent report by The New York Times (NYT).
According to sources, HAL has strictly adhered to India’s defense policies and international agreements, ensuring that no restricted technology was shared with Russia. The NYT report alleged that India provided Russia with key components and technology for its defense sector amid Western sanctions. However, Indian authorities have strongly refuted these claims, calling them “baseless and misleading.”
Government sources emphasized that India maintains an independent foreign policy and follows strict regulations regarding defense exports. HAL, a leading state-owned aerospace company, has been a key player in India’s defense manufacturing, producing aircraft, helicopters, and other military equipment under strict oversight.
The Indian government has not officially responded to the NYT report, but officials insist that all defense collaborations follow international norms. Meanwhile, diplomatic and defense experts see this report as part of the growing geopolitical tensions between global powers.
