NewDelhi: Gold and silver prices recorded a nationwide increase on January 29, reflecting strong global cues and rising domestic demand. While the surge was seen across India, a comparison between Delhi and Bhubaneswar highlights notable differences in local rates.

In Bhubaneswar, the price of 24-carat gold stood at ₹1,78,850 per 10 grams, while 22-carat gold was priced at ₹1,63,950. In Delhi, gold prices were marginally higher, with 24-carat gold at ₹1,79,000 and 22-carat gold at ₹1,64,100 per 10 grams.

Overall, gold prices surged by more than ₹1,0000 per 10 grams in a single day nationwide, indicating continued volatility in the bullion market.

Silver prices witnessed an even steeper rise across the country. In Bhubaneswar, silver was priced at ₹425,000 per kilogram, whereas in Delhi, the rate climbed significantly higher to ₹4,10,000 per kilogram.

Market data shows that silver prices jumped by nearly ₹25,000 in Bhubaneswar and around ₹30,000 in Delhi, underlining the sharp momentum in the white metal compared to gold.

Experts attribute the nationwide rise in precious metal prices to global economic uncertainty, fluctuations in the rupee, and increased investment demand. While the trend remains bullish across India, local taxes, transportation costs, and demand patterns continue to influence city-wise price variations.

Over the past few weeks, gold and silver prices have been witnessing sharp jumps rather than gradual increases, putting heavy financial pressure on middle-class and poor families during the ongoing wedding season.
