Chhatrapur, Ganjam: Police have registered a case against nine people in Munisipentha village after the family of an OAS officer was allegedly insulted and socially boycotted.
The complaint was filed by Bijay Behera, father of Aska Additional Tehsildar Saudagar Behera. He said his family was asked to leave a wedding feast and was insulted in front of other villagers.

What the Family Alleged
According to the complaint:
The problems started after the officer married outside the Kaibarta community.
The family was not allowed to attend some community events.
They were stopped from taking part in village functions.
At a recent wedding, they were asked to leave publicly.
The family says they have been facing social pressure for some time.
Police Action
After receiving the complaint, Chhatrapur police registered an FIR against nine people.
Police officials said:
Both sides were called to the police station for discussion.
No solution was reached in the first meeting.
The investigation is ongoing.
Statements of witnesses are being recorded.
Further action will be taken after the investigation.
Community’s Response
Leaders of the Kaibarta Samaj said no official decision was taken to boycott the family.
They admitted there were disagreements over the inter-caste marriage but denied forcing the family out of the community.
They have planned another meeting with senior community members to discuss the issue and maintain peace in the village.
Family’s Stand
Bijay Behera said he will not break ties with his son or daughter-in-law despite pressure from some people.
He said the family is ready for talks but will not give up their relationship with their son.
