Afghanistan Earthquake
At least 812 people have been killed and 2,817 injured in Afghanistan after a powerful earthquake struck the eastern part of the country, making it the deadliest quake since 2015.
According to government spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid, the eastern province of Kunar has been the worst affected, followed by Nangarhar, Laghman, Nuristan, and Panjshir. Entire villages have been wiped out, and disrupted communication networks are hampering rescue and relief efforts. In Nurgal district, many victims are still trapped under debris, officials said.
The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) confirmed that its teams are already on the ground in earthquake-hit regions, working to deliver urgent food assistance to the survivors.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed deep grief over the tragedy and extended India’s support to Afghanistan. In a social media post, PM Modi said that India stands ready to provide all possible humanitarian aid and relief to those affected.
He conveyed condolences to the bereaved families and wished a speedy recovery to the injured, affirming that India’s thoughts and prayers are with the Afghan people during this difficult time.
