China’s Changan Automobile expands into Europe with EVs, to launch in 10 markets this year

China’s Changan Automobile is set to expand into 10 European markets this year with its electric vehicles (EVs). The company aims to compete with well-known carmakers like Volkswagen and Stellantis.
On Friday, Changan introduced its first EV for the European market, the Deepal S07, an electric SUV priced at 45,000 euros ($48,775), during an event in Mainz, Germany. The company announced that sales of the Deepal S07 will begin in April in Norway, Denmark, Germany, and the Netherlands. The UK launch is scheduled for June, with more countries to follow later in the year.
Changan also plans to release more models soon. The Deepal S05 will launch later this year, and the Changan E07 is expected by early 2026. Additionally, the company intends to introduce hybrid cars in Europe starting in 2026.To support its expansion, Changan will set up a network of over 1,000 dealerships across Europe to provide sales and services, though it has not specified a timeline for this plan.
The company’s EVs sold in Europe will be manufactured in its plants in China and Thailand and then imported.
