Wisden 2024: Bumrah and Mandhana Crowned World’s Best Cricketers
India’s Jasprit Bumrah and Smriti Mandhana have been named the top cricketers in the world in the latest Wisden Cricketers’ Almanack.
Bumrah earned the men’s title with an amazing 2024, shining in all cricket formats and being named player of the tournament when India won the Twenty20 World Cup in the West Indies.
The publication said India’s success in 2024 mostly depended on Bumrah, the 31-year-old considered the best all-format bowler of his time.
Mandhana won the women’s title after a great year, scoring five centuries, including four in one-day internationals, and leading Royal Challengers Bengaluru to their first Women’s Premier League title.
West Indies’ Nicholas Pooran was picked as the ‘Leading T20 Player in the World’.
England’s Gus Atkinson, Jamie Smith, Sophie Ecclestone, Liam Dawson, and Dan Worrall were also named Wisden’s five ‘Cricketers of the Year’.
