Trump Warns Iran of Possible Bombing and Tariffs Over Nuclear Deal

If they don't make a deal, there will be bombing': Trump warns Iran over nuclear program
Former US President Donald Trump has warned Iran that if it does not agree to a new nuclear deal, the US could take serious action, including bombing and economic sanctions.
In an interview with NBC News on Sunday, Trump said, “If they don’t make a deal, there will be bombing the likes of which they have never seen before.” His comments came after Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian rejected direct talks with the US last week.

Iran Rejects Talks, Responds Through Oman

Iran has refused to negotiate with the US while facing economic pressure and military threats. Instead, it sent a response through Oman to a letter Trump had written to Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, urging a new nuclear agreement. Iran’s Foreign Minister, Seyed Abbas Araghchi, confirmed this stance last Thursday.

Trump Threatens Tariffs on Iran and Russia

Trump also mentioned that he could reimpose secondary tariffs, meaning he would put pressure on countries that buy Iranian goods, similar to his past economic moves. He has already signed an order for such tariffs on Venezuelan oil buyers and hinted that Russia and Iran could face similar penalties.

Background on US-Iran Nuclear Tensions

During his first term (2017-2021), Trump withdrew the US from the 2015 nuclear deal, which had set strict limits on Iran’s uranium enrichment in exchange for relief from economic sanctions. Since then, Iran has increased its uranium enrichment beyond the agreed limits, raising concerns among Western nations that it could be working toward nuclear weapons.
While Iran insists its nuclear program is for energy purposes, the US and its allies believe Tehran may be trying to develop nuclear weapons. With tensions rising, Trump’s warning suggests that military action and economic penalties could be used to push Iran toward a deal.
