Trump: U.S. Will Send Patriot Missiles to Ukraine

Washington, July 14:
U.S. President Donald Trump announced on Sunday that the United States will send Patriot air defense systems to Ukraine. He said the move is in response to Russia’s continued missile and drone strikes, despite Russian President Vladimir Putin’s diplomatic tone.

“Putin says nice things during the day, but then he bombs everyone at night,” Trump remarked while speaking to reporters at Joint Base Andrews. He added that Ukraine urgently needs the defensive systems to protect itself.

While Trump did not disclose the exact number of missile systems being sent, he stated that the European Union will reimburse the United States for the cost. “We’ll provide them with advanced military gear, and they will pay us back in full. That’s how we want it,” he said.

Trump also shared his growing frustration with Putin, claiming the Russian leader has resisted ceasefire efforts. His comments reflect a shift in tone, as he has previously maintained a cautious diplomatic stance toward Moscow.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy has consistently appealed for more air defense support to counter Russia’s daily aerial attacks.

President Trump is scheduled to meet with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte this week to discuss Ukraine and broader alliance matters.
