India has put anti-dumping duties on five Chinese products this month to protect local businesses from cheap imports. These products include vacuum flasks, aluminium foil, Soft Ferrite Cores, Trichloro Isocyanuric Acid (a water treatment chemical), and Poly Vinyl Chloride (PVC) Paste Resin.
Why the Duties Were Imposed?
Investigations by India’s Directorate General of Trade Remedies (DGTR) found that these products were being sold in India at prices lower than normal, hurting domestic manufacturers. To counter this, the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) imposed duties for five years on most of these products.
Details of the Anti-Dumping Duties:
Soft Ferrite Cores (used in EVs, chargers, and telecom devices) – Up to 35% duty on the CIF (Cost, Insurance, and Freight) value.
Vacuum Insulated Flasks – $1,732 per tonne duty.
Aluminium Foil – Up to $873 per tonne, but only for six months.
Trichloro Isocyanuric Acid (used in water treatment) – $276 to $986 per tonne duty on imports from China and Japan.
PVC Paste Resin – $89 to $707 per tonne duty on imports from China, Korea, Malaysia, Norway, Taiwan, and Thailand.
