The United Kingdom is set to host the 2035 FIFA Women’s World Cup after FIFA President Gianni Infantino confirmed it was the only valid bid for the tournament.

England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland announced last month that they would submit a joint bid to host the event. Their proposal is expected to be accepted, making it the first FIFA World Cup held in the UK since 1966.

FA CEO Mark Bullingham expressed excitement about the opportunity, stating, “We are honored to be the sole bidder for the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2035. Hosting the tournament alongside our home nations partners will be very special. The hard work starts now to put together the best possible bid by the end of the year.”

Infantino confirmed at the UEFA Congress in Belgrade that FIFA received only one bid for 2035 and one for 2031. The United States is also expected to be named host of the 2031 tournament, as it is the only nation to submit a bid.

The final decision on the hosts for both tournaments will be made by FIFA next year. If confirmed, this will be a major milestone for women’s football in the UK, giving fans the chance to witness the biggest international tournament on home soil.

Before these events, Brazil will host the 2027 Women’s World Cup, which will feature 32 teams. This tournament is expected to continue the rapid growth of women’s football worldwide.

With the UK and the US likely to host the next two tournaments after Brazil, FIFA’s focus remains on expanding and promoting women’s football across the globe.
