Washington: US President Donald Trump spoke to Russian President Vladimir Putin on the phone. The two leaders discussed issues ranging from the Middle East to the Ukraine crisis. White House Deputy Chief of Staff Dan Scavino said that there was a good conversation on a variety of topics.
According to a BBC report, Putin was so eager for the conversation that he arrived half an hour early. He usually arrives late for such events and says he has more important things to do.
Trump wants an immediate ceasefire in Ukraine. Last week, Putin said that he was ready for a 30-day ceasefire, but there are some conditions behind it. First, it needs to be decided how the ceasefire will be implemented and who will give the order to end the fighting. He asked how those 30 days will be spent. To organize Ukraine? To rearm? To train people? Or none of these? Then another question—how to control it?
