Three U.S. F-15E Jets Downed in Friendly Fire Incident in Kuwait

The United States Central Command (CENTCOM) confirmed on March 2, 2026, that three U.S. F-15E Strike Eagle jets were accidentally shot down by Kuwaiti air defenses during active combat operations. All six crew members ejected safely and are in stable condition.

The aircraft were operating under Operation Epic Fury, the U.S. mission linked to the escalating conflict involving Iran and Israel.

Officials said Kuwaiti defense systems were intercepting incoming Iranian missiles, drones and aircraft when the American jets were mistakenly identified as hostile targets.

The aircraft crashed within Kuwaiti territory, including one reported near the Al Jahra area. Authorities described the incident as a coordination error during high-intensity defensive operations.

Iranian state media, citing the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), initially claimed responsibility for hitting at least one jet. The Pentagon rejected that claim, stating the loss resulted solely from friendly fire.

The episode highlights the growing volatility in the region as tensions continue to rise. Further updates are awaited as investigations continue.
